I thought it was odd to see in one of my GitHub repos that I had a last commit date of "last year", which I was certain was last month. It turns out, I was right; strange things are afoot.

Hovering over the "last year" text reveals that the commit date was approximately one month ago, highlighting the nature of the confusing text. It's like they say, there are two hard things in computer science: cache invalidation, naming things, and off-by-one errors.
